"Would you like to Dance?"

"But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows, And saying, We have piped unto you, and YE HAVE NOT DANCED; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented."( Matthew 11:16-17)

The verses above were preceded by, "He that hath ears, let him hear", that always means, this is urgent! Jesus is talking about John the Baptist and how great a prophet he was to the people. He speaks about this generation being like children at a resort. (market=public resort) Some music is played but they don't dance, something tragic happens but they don't respond with any emotion. A complacent, non-responsive generation that sits back and does nothing. A comparison is made between John and Jesus. John is conservative, hardcore but Jesus is more open minded and the children in the market don't like either of the two. We sit back, do nothing or we do just enough church work to make us feel comfortable on our pew when the preacher preaches about being dedicated to the "Good Lord". For those of you around the world that read this, the phrase "The Good Lord" is a casual way of referring to God in the USA. It's rather impersonal and very general. The reason we don't dance or mourn is we've become victims of the spirit of system that has invaded us. We've become non-emotional, complacent and out of balance when it comes to our relationship with Jesus Christ. We justify our sins in the American Church by doing God a favor on Sunday by attending church and participating if it's not to much trouble. What Jesus was saying is that this generation is non-responsive, out of balance and doesn't know the difference between righteousness and unrighteousness. My prayer-God, Play the music, I want to dance, even if I have to dance alone!!! Although I'm very sure that good looking wife of mine will dance with me anytime. Kari M. Boatner, thank you for always dancing with me, I think it's time we dance again!!

"The Faith of the Son of God!!"

"I am crucified with Christ" To say that you are crucified with Christ is to say that your flesh is dead to the passions of this world, which is a mouthful. Paul makes this statement by the Grace of God and then says that He lives by the Faith of the Son of God. How do you live? Are you crucified with Christ? What controls your life, the Spirit of God or your fleshly desires? "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls."(Proverbs 25:28) A city without walls in Old Testament times meant that it had no protection from the enemy!! Are you living a disciplined life that gives you protection from the enemy? Are you aware that a life without discipline in it, is a life that will eventually fall all to pieces? Do you have the Spirit of God in you or have you just adapted to some religious rules you picked up at church. Are you growing in the knowledge and grace of Christ or is it just a show that you play a part in on Sunday mornings? Now, I ask the question again, "Are you crucified with Christ?" What controls your life and destiny-flesh or Spirit?
"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway."(1 Corinthians 9:27) The word "castaway" means to be fruitless or not fulfilling your intended purpose. As Paul says in this passage that" Christ lives in me", if He does, then you need to make your life count for God's glory. Jesus gave Himself for me, He died on a cross to give me the peace and forgiveness that I have, that alone should motivate me to serve Him wholeheartedly. Have you nailed your flesh to the cross or is your flesh putting nails in your coffin, one bad choice at a time?

"I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me."(Galatians 2:20)

People are watching.....

As Christians we need to be aware of the fact that people are observing our lives. If we are true to our faith in Christ we shouldn't need the general public to watch us to keep us on our spiritual toes but we are human. Salvation doesn't eliminate humanity out of our lives so we need to allow the power of the Holy Spirit to guide us on our faith journey!! We must always be aware that our highest accountability is to God.
I shared a story on Facebook about a young lady working in a store that recognized me as a Preacher several miles from my home town. It is true that we need to live our faith at all times. The first time that happened to me was around 1990 in a mall in Asheville, NC. Someone walked up to me and said, "You're that Preacher I see on TV", I'm like, "excuse me"? I was thinking, I can't even hardly afford to buy a cheap television, much less afford to buy time slots on TV. The person was very sure it was me so we just let it go and walked away. It was a good laugh, then we discovered that I was on TV, not only in North Carolina but several states. At the time we were traveling and preaching in a lot of churches, one of which that did have a TV Ministry. I knew they taped me, sold the videos to raise money for various ministries but had no idea that I was being aired in several states. In 1999 our ministry sponsored a crusade involving several churches, it was taped and aired on several Christian Cable channels in several states. Over a year later, we were in Olive Garden in one of the states it was aired in and a server says, "You're that Preacher on TV", I responded, "I have been, but it was over a year ago in this area". She replies, "O' no, you were on last week", I said, "Well it was a re-run"!! The moral of these stories are, we shouldn't take ourselves to serious but we need to be very serious about our Savior, Jesus Christ. As Paul said, we are letters, read of men. When people read your letter, what are they reading about your life? They are reading you, whether you want them to or not, let's give them some good reading material. BTW, you can always start the letter over, it's called a new beginning in Jesus.

"Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:"(2 Corinthians 3:2)

"Peace and Quiet"

"A quiet and peaceable life" The life we all want but obviously are not hitting the mark most days. I would say that most of the people I meet and greet are stressed to the max, not quiet and peaceable. Bro Scott, what's wrong? Let's take a close look; "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;"(1Timothy 2:1-3) Pray for "ALL" men, seriously, we don't even like most people much less pray for them. It's very hard to pray for someone while judging and criticizing them. Instead of giving people a leg up, "we the people" pile rocks on our neighbors head. I'm not an authority on the governments of the world nor an economist but I have figured out that we here in America are in trouble. All answers to all problems are found in a book called the Bible. The problem is that first thing in the mornings most Christians turn on the news rather than open the Word. We are to pray for those in leadership from the most insignificant elected office to the highest office in the land, The President of The United States. I know the Holy Grail News Network fills your head with all the possible negative junk it can find to completely depress you before starting your day. The Bible doesn't say you have to vote for them, vote for who you want to, but pray for those in office. The only way out of this mess we are in is God's way. I don't wonder at all why we are in the mess we are in, I'm shocked it's not worse. "For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God;"(1Peter 4:17). We should be preaching messages of hope and confidence that will inspire our young adults to become leaders in our countries. Instead we tell them how messed up it is so they have no hope and become disturbed about their future. We must preach truth, yes but we must balance it out with Hope!! GOD IS, ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE IN CHARGE!!!! The Word of God is still very clear about what it takes to heal a nation. "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."(2 Chronicles 7:14). It hasn't changed, it just needs to be read and obeyed!!

"Are you Satisfied"

If you talk right and you work right, you will be satisfied. Satisfied means to "have plenty of" and Recompense means a "harvest or reward" which is to get way more than you gave, an overflow, an abundance of whatever it is you are believing for. We all have dreams that we should be talking about in faith and working toward, because God is pouring His Spirit out on all flesh. (Joel 2 & Acts 2). You are about to read a verse that can change your life forever.

"A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him."(Proverbs 12:14)

We are here, the last days, the outpouring of God's Latter Rain!! God is moving in a mighty way in the earth, I've seen it first hand. We are receiving reports of healing and miracles of all kind from our ministries on the other side of the world. I have had the privilege to preach to thousands in the open air, lay hands on thousands for prayer and no way to count how many came to Christ from their false gods. Our ministry teams are going into villages where not one person has ever heard the Name of Jesus Christ!! What an amazing God we serve, that can and will do the impossible!! There are reports of thousands of people getting saved every 24 hours in parts of the world!! We have a "Prayer and Praise" time at Church when we Praise God for the miracles He worked in our lives last week and then Pray for the miracles we need for the upcoming week. Do you have a prayer in your heart? Do you have a vision? What are you talking about? What are you working toward? I know, the last dream you had may have got squashed, but please don't stop dreaming! Just keep talking in faith, keep putting your hand to the plow and God will make something happen in your life. Just block everything out of your mind that destroys your faith. My wife, Kari M. Boatner, calls those hindrances "Faith Busters". Don't let your thoughts, fears, friends, family or anything mess with your faith. At all cost, keep your faith in good working order, your dreams will come to pass and you will be recompensed in the earth. May God Bless you as you passionately pursue your call from God. He wants you to be a part of His work in the earth!!

Past or Future? Which is most important to you?

We spend our lives asking "why" every time something bad happens to us instead of asking "how" shall I fix this "why"? Why it happened is usually out of our reach because it's done!! God cares more about your future than our past, He cares more about our character than our emotional ups and downs because they change constantly, our character should be a constant!! He cares more about what you can become by looking ahead than being overwhelmed by a "WHY" that is behind you. He has a purpose for you, ask Him about your tomorrow. King David's stronghold was raided, his family, his men's family's and all they had were taken from them. It was so disturbing that David's own men thought about killing him by stoning. It was bad, but David did not waste time asking "WHY" but he ask for an answer on what to do about the situation. "WHAT" not "WHY", what did he have to do to regain his future by getting his family back not why has this happen to me? You need to focus on what can I do not why this happen to such a good person as I. (Please read how David reacts)

"So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were TAKEN captives. (At this point David could have wallowed in, yet another why)
Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God. And David enquired at the LORD, saying, SHALL I PURSUE, after this troop? SHALL I OVERTAKE them? And He (God) answered him, PURSUE; (future thinking) for thou shalt surely OVERTAKE them, and WITHOUT FAIL RECOVER all."(1 Samuel 30:3,4,6,8)

1Sa 30:9 So David went,..... Into his future.
1Sa 30:10 But David pursued,....Into his future.

David pursued his future not his past, please don't trade your past for your future potential with hope in God!!! You cannot see your future if you never look forward, its not possible to look back at the "why" and look to the future at the same time!! It's a new day; GO!!!

Life is real......

It doesn't matter how good you are, how good of a handle you have on life or how accomplished you are, it can come crashing down around you. A "Life Crash" is when you seem to do everything right but everything comes crashing down any way. We live on a sin cursed earth that is filled with death traps that we often step in without seeing them or having any idea that they even exist, much less that we are about to step in one. We all have "Why's" in our lives. The Bible answers most of them if you really search the scriptures. I preached a series of sermons that answered many of the why's in our lives but there are a few why's that come with the territory of living on a sin cursed earth that may never be answered here. In 11 Samuel 6:9, David asked God "How" can I get past this rather than "Why" did this instance occur. A friend, a leader in David's army had just died doing what David told him to do but David was a warrior and wanted to know "How" to win. Warriors cry later but today they fight!! When we get slapped in the face with a "Mysterious Trial", do like David, stop the band and ask "How" can we get past this hurdle in life"? It's human nature to ask why things happen and true enough, we need to learn from our yesterday's so we don't repeat any mistakes that we've made in our past. When one of David's men died stabilizing the Ark, David asked God, "How" can we move forward in spite of this issue. After three months David got his answer from God and completed his mission for the Kingdom of God. David was aware that life is a vapor and he didn't have forever to get the job done. We are not promised tomorrow, so whatever you are going to do, you need to be getting it done. I wouldn't waste my life with petty things, being dramatic or fleshly because this could be your last day on earth. Let's make it count for good, give the people you associate with something good to say after you are gone. Let's take another view of life, what if you are frustrated with someone over something petty, you wake up tomorrow and they are gone! Life is a vapor!! "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."(James 4:14)

God is forever Faithful!!!

Aren't you glad God doesn't have bad days? Even when we are not so strong in our faith, He doesn't change. I'm very happy to know that even when I can't seem to get it together, He's got it together for me. "For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are NOT consumed." ( Malachi 3:6)
Our daily faith status update may have an extreme impact on our day, but has no impact on the nature and intent of our God. To understand the Bible you must determine the context in which a verse is used. This verse is in the context of staying strong in the time of warfare and suffering. If we faint in times of trial or temptation we will suffer loss of rewards. We all want to hear, "Well done, thou good and Faithful Servant," but we all may have some wood, hay and stubble in our lives that will burn up at the Judgement Seat of Christ. "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire." (1 Corinthians 3:11-15) I'm at peace knowing that God has me tattooed in the palm of His hand. "Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands;" (Isaiah 49:16) He holds me in His hand, safe from the enemy. "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." (John 10:28). No matter what happens on this planet, in this life, I cannot perish because my God has got me in His hands, holding me safely. "A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee." (Psalm 91:7). Nothing will come against me that will take me away from my Heavenly Father. Thank You, God!!

Veterans Day

Today is "Veterans Day", the day we honor all people that have served in the US Armed Forces!! With a heartfelt gratitude I share my heart today.

I'm sorry that you are not given the respect you deserve.
I'm sorry that so many don't understand your Patriotism.
I'm sorry that you are not paid what you deserve.
I'm sorry that you are not prayed for like you should be.
I'm sorry for all you've lost in service of our country.
I'm sorry that so many leaders of our country are clueless as to your reality.
I'm sorry that so many have gone on before and won't be able to read my apology today. In the scope of things, I know my words won't be read by many today but I'm heartbroken over the fact that so many of the freedoms you have given us are slipping away. I thank you from the depths of my soul for all you do and all you've done!!! May God place His Favor on your life!

OPPORTUNITY!!

Today is an opportunity for God to do the impossible in your life!! Do you need a mountain moved today? Jesus is the mover of mountains!!

"For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith."(Mark 11:23)

"The Gift of God"

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: "Ephesians 2:8

"The Gift of God". We really need to get over ourselves and get a revelation of the truth of God's Grace!! In 1760, a self-proclaimed wretch penned the hymn, "Amazing Grace", his name was John Newton. Mr. Newton, with God's help, gave the church a great Hymn. A song that we still sing today but how many people actually believe the words of the song? The verse above leaves our religious point systems out of the picture. Humanity, unfortunately, inherited it's religious nature from Adam and Eve. What did Adam do when he sinned against God? He tried to fix it with some fig leaves, leaves that soon withered and exposed his nakedness. Our fig leaves are a pathetic excuse for the Grace of God but our religious nature still goes for the fig leaves instead of repentance. We are saved by the Grace of God, plus nothing--minus nothing!!
I can assure you that I was saved by grace, it had nothing to do with me being good and churchy. Sure, I walked the church isle, cried, got baptized and hugged all the good church folk almost every time I got in trouble for something. Guess what, that's not salvation. Salvation is meeting Jesus and meeting Jesus is simple faith in Him as Savior. On 1-31-82, I met Jesus Christ my Savior!! It's sad that people are still wearing fig leaves today to try and cover their sin. Please quit wasting your time trying to please God enough with your good deeds to get to Heaven. The road to heaven is not paved with good intentions but with the Blood of Jesus, The Lamb of God!!!

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Put your faith and trust in Jesus today!!!

What do you do when all you got to give is not enough?

At some point in life you will run out of your own strength! You are simply running on empty. You can't stop or quit because you are the strong one in the family but at this moment in time nothing could be further from the truth. You are empty, at wits end, propped up by the simple fact that you know someone or several people only have you to lean on. You are keenly aware that if you fall, they go down!! What do you do at this point in your life?

"He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them. He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail. The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed."(1 Samuel 2:8-10)

The God of Balance!!

If you suffer for Him, you will be consoled, compensated, recompenced in the earth. God doesn't default on His Promises!!

"And our hope of you is stedfast, knowing, that as ye are partakers of the sufferings, so shall ye be also of the consolation. For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble which came to us in Asia, that we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life. But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us;" (2Corinthians 1:7-10)
