"For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling."(Psalm 116:8)
"Tears" Sometime we shed tears of joy but in the context of this verse, these are tears of sorrow. In this verse God promises to DELIVER us from the tears of sorrow!! If you are alive, on planet earth and breathing, you have shed tears of sorrow along the journey of life. "How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?"(Psalm 13:2) The Psalmist ask, "How long", Are you wondering how long this sorrow will last? He says that he has sorrow (grief) on a daily basis. After a tragic event of any kind, especially the death of a loved one, we have sorrow daily until we journey through the "valley of the shadow of death". Grieving is a journey that can have an end, a finish or a completion not forgetting but processing the sorrow. Regardless of the reason for your tears today, God is going to deliver you from that pain. It is not His will for you to live in sorrow but to walk in freedom and joy. If our enemy, satan, can keep you down and out over a hurt in your past then he can steal your future. If you live your life looking back at all of your pain, it will eventually destroy you and you will never fulfill God's purpose for your life. "A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken."(Proverbs 15:13) If you live in sorrow constantly, it will break your spirit and a broken spirit drieth the bones. "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones."(Proverbs 17:22) If you don't find deliverance from the tears of continual sorrow, it will destroy you. God has a plan for your life, a vision for you to fulfill for His Kingdom that will bring peace and joy to you. God's ultimate goal in all of our lives is to wipe away every tear! "And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."(Revelation 21:4) We are on a journey, that sometimes involves the shedding of tears, but God doesn't want us to live in constant sorrow but to experience His deliverance. If you are crying today, cry out to God for His deliverance and He will wipe away every tear.
