"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive."(Genesis 50:20)
On life's journey, things happen that we can't control. Sometime those things hurt, sometime they just happen without notice, without reason but sometime people hurt us intentionally. Life hasn't changed much since the days of Joseph, we still hurt when things happen to us regardless of the reason. We all have hurts and pain from our past, what's done is done! It may have been 3 minutes or 30 years but we still remember the action that caused the pain. The question is, "How are we going to deal with that pain?". Do we carry the suitcase filled with painful things around so we can have them handy when we need to feel sorry for ourselves, we open and take them out for a peak? Do we lock the suitcase filled with pain and put it under the bed to collect dust? This verse is HUGE! It's the OT version of - Rom 8:28 - "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
"And we know" is a huge statement of faith! If we did know, we wouldn't have so many battles internally, emotionally, spiritually, etc... The truth is we don't know that it was somehow "Good", to know that bad will become "Good", is a deep truth about Faith in God. We must believe with every ounce of faith we have that God is for us and will work it all out. To have this kind of faith, you must love God and be called according to His purpose. Faith to know that no matter what has happened or is happening will work out for our "Good" and God's Glory is a Faith that will carry you through anything. At the end of the day, we must train our spirit to believe that God is at work in our lives, no matter what is going on. According to Genesis, whatever Adam called the animals, that was their name and are still called that today. He called cows, cows, so they are cows. So take a look behind you, take a look around you, look down the road into your future and CALL IT GOOD. It will be whatever we call it, so let's call it good. This is a journey of faith, but it is a good journey, that will lead to a good place. I'm on my way, please feel free to join me.
